St. John’s People and the National Park—rare and beautiful treasures

Many of the native West Indian families on St. John are descended directly from the Dutch slave plantation industry days of the 1700’s. They are shy but always kind. Jet skis are not allowed anywhere in the National Park so the beaches are always clean, dreamy and quiet. The National Park Visitors Center in Cruz Bay has a wealth of information about the park's many interesting activities, but discovering it all on your own is half the fun.
